The Batista Credo--A message to My Children and Their Children

The Batista Credo

Find something you love and do it. Be unafraid to fail, only be afraid to not begin again. Make failure a learning experience, so that you will not make the same mistake again if you can help it. Know that in life, it’s not only what happens to you that matters, but also, how you react to what happens to you--is equally, or maybe even more meaningful.
Do not listen to those who say you cannot be what you want to be. Understand that you can achieve anything once you set your mind and thoughts on fulfilling your goal. Be totally Confident--in who you are and what you can accomplish. Remember, when you have nothing else to lean on, you can always lean on your intelligence to get you through tough times. Think out a good plan and execute it.
Know who you are and where you come from. Be comfortable in your own skin. Understand that people will not show you respect until they see that you respect yourself. People will not show you love until they see that you love yourself. Be good to the person that is you. Treat your body as a sacred temple and watch everything you put in it. Love who you are without question, or hesitation. Love yourself as God loves you. And most of all: Before you can truly forgive others, you must forgive yourself.
