Purple Haze Synopsis

The fate of eight friends who grew up in macropolitan East Texas seems to center around a single elusive individual. Untimely deaths plague the tight-knit group. Twins, Janda and Landan Colquin become concerned about the eccentric behavior of one particular classmate. At first the deaths are thought to be accidents. When the fourth classmate dies and local police rule it as a suicide, questions are raised. Race is thought to be a factor behind the police department calling it a suicide and their quick wrap up of the case.

With college having taken them all down different paths, the five year reunion brings their lives back together during which surviving friends become increasingly fearful for their lives as they seem to be surrounded by strange events. The rationalization that the deaths are somehow connected emerges.

Janda Colquin also carries a secret longing for college sweetheart, Keith Baptise, but life events keep getting in the way of her love life. Even after she triumphs in love, her inquisitive nature leads her to pay a high price for it. Consequently, in a different way, love helps her brother Landan mature into a political mover and shaker that changes the course of things in the East Texas Piney Woods.

In the middle of it all is Eugene Stykes, valedictorian for the class of '77. Obsessed with military maneuvers, he moves to a level of military influence in world events and a person of interest for the murders in Pineview.

BIO

Sherryl (JA) Adams, author of three psychological suspense thriller novels, uses literature to bring awareness to the epidemic of wounded hearts caused by societal ills in hopes of enlightening others that they too can move from victim to survivor. Along with extensive experience working with victims of violence in a therapeutic setting, her writings allude to healing the spirit and soul of victims. Experience include, therapeutic counselor for child victims of violence, court advocate for victims of domestic violence and violent crimes, Child Protective Service investigator, and training coordinator for Educare Training Institute writing curriculum for educators working with traumatized children.

In 1995 she traveled with the Institute to Oklahoma City to provide assistance to educators in working with traumatized children and their families following the aftermath of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. In addition, she has served as Executive Director of two nonprofit child intervention programs, and director of her church’s youth ministry.

Presently, in addition to her writing, she volunteers with numerous organizations bringing awareness to women issues, as well as, advocating against intimate partner and family violence. Such involvement includes, Any Baby Can, the Ortralla Mosley Foundation promoting awareness on teen dating violence and Gateway Church Restore Ministry assisting in facilitating groups for victims of domestic violence and childhood sexual abuse.

Foremost in all, the most important thing about JA, she is proof one can find love again after trauma. Adams is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and currently resides in Central Texas with her family.

Kim is a native to Wisconsin and has lived there her entire life. Not one to be confined to small spaces she traveled the world seeking out adventure and the unknown. From walking on The Great Wall of China, to peering off the top of the Eiffel Tower, to kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland, this is a woman who craves excitement. Her career as a writer started five years ago when she decided to write books for children.

After completing her first book, she was hooked. From there she turned to romance novels and even tried her hand at thrillers. But it wasn’t until she discovered non –fiction that she found her calling. With her voice found, Kim went on to spend two years working on a non- fiction book about love and finding Mr. Perfect. From there she built her platform as the guru of love and all things romantic. In June of 2009 came the launching of the Chick Gab website. Wildly popular, the Facebook Fan page, Twitter and Blog followed. Over the last year Kim has grown in popularity and her articles on love can be found all over the web. From Ezine, to singles dating sites, to blog talk radio, you can find advice from the "Chick Gab Chick" everywhere.



Kim is also the host of the popular blog radio show, Finding Your Love Now, which airs every Tuesday night at 9pm central time. And this year Kim is touring the country as a presenter for the conference, Dating Mastery. She will be appearing in five states and two countries in 2011 and six states and three countries in 2012.

What’s next for this gifted girl of gab? Well, getting her book published is at the top of the list and from there it’s on to book number two. She plans to help make Dating Mastery a world wide phenomena and to get her reality show she wrote on national television. This girl of gab is growing in popularity and she will soon be scene and heard across the world live and in print. Chick Gab Chick is taking being an author to new levels and her star is on the rise.

INSPIRE!
Inspire yourself, inspire others; put yourself into position to be inspired. Whatever it takes to be an instrument of inspiration, do it. When we ourselves are inspired, it is easier to inspire others. When people are inspired, they act more positively: there's a pronounced spring to their step and twinkle in their eye. They become fulfilled with a sense of optimism and hope.

Lately, it seems that so many of us have lost hope and have given up due to all the recent tragedies such as the devastated economy, the epidemic of violence and the perceived breakdown of just about every facet of our society. When hope is viewed as lost, people become angry, frustrated, and very, very afraid. FEAR is the most feared four-letter word in the English language. When people are consumed by fear, they become desperate, irrational and at times, psychotic. They suffer from mass doses of prejudice and intolerance, which can turn into venomous hatred for people who look different or have other politics or beliefs.

What these individuals need is a heavy dose of inspiration. Inspiration can be found almost anywhere. It can be found in religion, or works of art, or in other human beings. I find inspiration from many different sources. From people such as Ghandi, Madame C.J. Walker, Martin Luther King and Thomas Edison, or art, such as great books or plays or films. Just yesterday, I watched the touchingly poetic movie, 'Cry The Beloved Country' that was based on the seminal novel by Alan Paton. That story was so beautifully told and moved me so much, I was mentally and spiritually inspired. Inspired to the point where I decided to write this blog on inspiration.

So my friends, go out and get inspired. Become inspired by something as awesome as a sunset or as genuine as the smile of contented infant. No matter where it comes from, just enjoy it--enjoy the powerful feeling of being inspired!
